Regional Networks

The following clinical networks/groups are either set up as formal sub-committees of the WMSCG or formally report to the WMSCG.

Cystic Fibrosis Steering Group

The Cystic Fibrosis Steering Group is a commissioning led clinical engagement forum that aims to establish and implement commissioning strategies for both adult and paediatric Cystic Fibrosis services across the whole of the West Midlands.

Neurosurgery Network

The West Midlands Neurosurgery Network is a multi-professional network which brings together local neurosurgery providers and commissioners to improve the patient experience for those receiving care through the neurosurgery pathway. The network aims to ensure good quality of care, equitable provision and safety across all providers.

The Network aims to achieve this through:

  • The improvement of service delivery and clinical outcomes within neurosurgical services.
  • The development of uniform policies for neurosurgery across all providers, in accordance with national guidelines.
  • Using outcome based decision making to advise commissioners and key stakeholders on the future direction for neurosurgery services.
  • Improving the data/information within neurosurgery to support service delivery and inform decision making
  • Develop an appropriate workforce to provide high quality/skilled services

Midlands Burns Network

The West Midlands Burns care network in the Midlands is a joint initiative between East Midlands and West Midland Specialised Commissioning.

The Network aims to deliver burns care of the highest quality.

West Midlands Cancer Steering Group

This is a Steering Group for the Cancer Networks that exist in the West Midlands, and also has a more direct oversight role in the planning of Rarer Cancer Services.

West Midlands Cardiac Steering Group

This is a Steering Group for the Cardiac Networks that exist in the West Midlands.

West Midlands Newborn Networks

There are three Newborn Network that work across the West Midlands. More information can be found here.

West Midlands Renal Network

The West Midlands Renal Network provides renal services to patients across the West Midlands.

In addition there are five local renal groups representing each Local Specialised Commissioning Boards e.g. Pan Birmingham, Black Country, Shropshire and Staffordshire, Coventry and Warwickshire and Herefordshire and Worcestershire
